Description & mode of action of Sermorelin
Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide derived from growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH ). Designed to mimic the 29-amino-acid active fragment of GHRH, it acts as a secretagogue , studied for its role in stimulating growth hormone production by the pituitary gland .
Sermorelin is not a growth hormone per se: in the models studied, it binds to specific pituitary receptors to trigger the endogenous release of human growth hormone (hGH). This mechanism physiologically mimics the natural activity of GHRH, promoting a hormonal release profile closer to physiological than the direct administration of exogenous growth hormone.
