What is Melanotan II?
Melanotan II is a research peptide being studied for its action mimicking the natural hormone α-MSH (alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone). In research models, it binds to melanocortin receptors on skin cells, particularly MC1R , which is being studied for its role in increasing melanin production.
Unlike Melanotan-I (a more selective linear analogue), Melanotan II is a non-selective agonist : it interacts with a broader spectrum of melanocortin receptors, making it a subject of study for melanocortin pathways in experimental models.
